There are a lot of problems you can run into when running a dealership, but one of the most prevalent is the constant struggle to increase your profit margins. There are a few key things that you should look out for when selecting an F&I Vendor.

Training

Up to date training is incredibly important in any field, at any job. Having the option for ongoing automotive management training from your F&I Vendor is an important point to consider when selecting one. Being up to date on all of the latest management techniques can be the difference between a sale made and a sale lost.

Fill Ins

There are always people that don't show up, or in extreme cases have an emergency and get called out. Having a group of professionals on retainer that can fill in during either of the above-mentioned cases, or something more esoteric, can be a life saver beyond anything else. An F&I Vendor that offers this service should be high up on any prospective lists.

Flexibility

Finally, the most important quality to look for in an F&I Vendor is flexibility. Whatever else you may need, a vendor with good flexibility is more likely to be able to cover it than one without, whether it's to do with products or services. The more flexible they are, the more likely they are to be able to meet and satisfy to the fullest extent all of your customer's needs.

There are a lot more qualities than this to a good F&I Vendor for your dealership, but these are the most important ones to keep an eye out for. With good instinct and knowledge of the field, you should be able to pick out the best possible vendor for yourself, with the tips provided above.
